Activism bio (charitable work)
James Cromwell played the farmer in the movie "Babe" about the adorable herding pig. It was on the set of this film that Mr. Cromwell became sensitized to animal issues and became a vegetarian. Since that time, he has been an outspoken advocate on behalf of animal rights and an avid believer in veganism . He has received a Genesis Award from the Ark Trust, as well as appearing as a presenter on subsequent Genesis Award galas. He has also narrated a video for PETA about the cruelty in a pig farm and participated in their commercials and events, and has protested against animal testing in Washington D.C. In addition to his love of animals, he has also formed an organization called "Hecel Oyakapi" that "in partnership with the Oglala Dakota people, assists in the creation of arts and crafts and media programs and the building of an arts facility on the Pine Ridge Reservation".
